This is part three of a multi-part series on building a catio. Check out Part One (Why a catio, setting posts) and Part Two (chain link and roof support).

Day three of the catio construction marathon, and we’re pawsing for a meowment of triumph! Phase three was all about keeping Texas sun and sneaky escape attempts at bay.

Roofing Roundup: Turns out, three’s the magic number! We added three lumber beams for extra roof support, then installed the pre-cut corrugated roof.

Gap Gladiators: We shaped some plywood into a snug shield against escape-artist fantasies. With a few strategic cuts and a healthy dose of elbow grease, the gap vanished. Once the gate is added, the catio will be a secure fortress, fit for a feline king.

Two Steps Away: Almost there! Just two hurdles left before Espresso can visit his new kingdom. First, we’ll install the cat door – a portal to purr-petual outdoor adventures. Then, the grand entrance itself – the gate! After that, it’s playtime in paradise!

Moving Forward: Get ready for ramps, shelves and cozy napping nooks. Stay tuned for the big reveal, where Espresso gets the keys to his very own outdoor meow-topia!
